Living with the Heart as a Compass

Our Social Mask - the Ego

The ego, whose primary task is to save us from danger with the mission of "survival" is primarily driven by fear and wants to protect us from anything that could be dangerous. It is our social mask that we show outwardly, the role we play to adapt, be liked, compete or compare with others. The "norm" we follow because this has been programmed into us, many generations ago, in our society, that this is how we need to be and act to maintain control and be liked.

The ego is good at dwelling on the past or creating anxiety about the future. Living your entire life according to the ego's critical high-pitched fast voice can be exhausting. Constantly seeking confirmation of what others do, think, or feel gets us stuck in a hamster wheel in our search and longing for inner security and freedom, which will only continue to spin as long as we feed it. The ego urges us to make rational, quick decisions. To become something requires us to work hard and elbow our way forward, out of pure fear of losing control. We let go of our beautiful unique individuality because society perceives anyone who dares to step outside the box as deviant or rebellious.

Sharing Your Unique Self with the World

But we are not cut out of the same cookie cutter. We are all completely unique in a fantastic way. Think about this for a moment:: You were born to a life here on earth with a completely unique soul purpose that only YOU can fulfill. Don't deprive the world of this. Share your unique self with the world!

When we live from the outside in with the ego in the driver's seat, we create limitations in life. But when we let the heart rule and live from the inside out, we open up to unlimited possibilities. We open up to share our genuine authentic self with the world. We say yes to our soul!

But here comes the tricky part. The heart will NEVER let itself be guided by logic. The heart goes "all in" on emotions. The heart conveys what you need with and intuition. You know that feeling that tickles in the heart or stomach, light as a feather, but that feels so obvious and so...GOOD. It's your intuition. Your inner guide, which I usually call the Soul's Compass.

Does it take courage to live from the heart? Of course it does. We also know that a heart can be hurt and that's probably the biggest reason why many don't even consider taking the step. Dealing with all these feelings that appear in the beginning becomes too much. An insecurity and fear of being different or outside the social norm. Being questioned. It can make us feel very vulnerable.

But as a good friend of mine once put it: "It's better to have jumped and lost your footing for a while, because you create a lot of opportunities to land on something so much better"

I've thought a lot about those words over the years. "Jumping" is a good analogy, because when we make the change to live completely from the heart, it is as if we are "hanging free" in the air for a moment, we do not know when, where and how we will land again. We put all our faith and trust in, and blindly trust that our soul, our higher self, the Universe will guide us to the highest good for us. I can promise you that it is a trust that will never be betrayed but will reward you with unlimited possibilities. Because you are now living your authentic self. Your heart will always have your best interests at heart, a life with more love, harmony and balance.

Do the heart's choices feel illogical? Of course it can feel that way., but that means we are still looking at life from the ego's perspective. As I said, when the heart makes choices it does not care about logic, the Heart will always have the highest good for you in mind. It wants to create opportunities for you to grow and fulfill your unique soul purpose. To live soulfully is not to run away, it is to actually stand still and truly meet and connect with it lovingly with the heart. To dare to stand secure in your own intuition. Because that is when your transformation begins.
